Just thought id let you all know, BG is gearing up to get back into wholesale starting in late april. So for those of you far away - you may have little shops in mind that you think would be perfect for carrying BG. if so, please stop in there - and tell them to contact us. :) of course they can contact us through the website, or they can email me at email@example.com or call the shop phone at 234-855-0310.
im really excited about getting wholesale started again. If you remember a bit over a year ago i had to quit wholesale completely as the demand was just too much for my little hands and little soap pots to keep up with. If youve been following along with whats been going on here over the last year, youve seen us expanding in preparation for larger production capabilities. It took a while to get to know the new batch sizes. going from 15 lbs to 200 lbs is a major leap! so it took me a little while to figure everything out - all of the amounts of all of the goodness that goes into each bar of our soap. It also took some learning - how the heck to get 200 lbs of soap into the molds, while maintaining the same beautiful aesthetics - within the short short window of time one has to work with, while making soap. Some batches only give you 5 minutes, others can be up to 15. so that part definitely took some learning! i am happy to say, ive got it all down to a smooth operation and i am very excited to be able to offer bg soaps to other shops again :)
Aside from gearing up for all of that - ive been working on new bars to bring to the line this year. “Crud”, is already available in the shop - i will be updating the website with it over the weekend and it will be available to purchase online as well. “Tiggys garden” will be the next soap launched. Ive been passing out samples of it in the shop for the past two weeks, and including it in online orders and the feedback on it is awesome. Sometimes, when formulating - i just know something is going to be a hit. this, is one of those bars. tiggys garden is an awesome awesome bar of soap. its so simply complex, beautiful and calm. named after a dear soapmaker friend of mine, tiggy, from england. everything about the bar reminds me of my trip to england. its a brewed tea and buttermilk base, with notes of bergamot, petitgrain and other beautiful- uplifting essential oils. its filled with honest goodness, unique, happy and gorgeous, just like my friend tiggy :)
the next soap to make its way to the line will be “punisher”. haha. this bar was born from a story which came to me in the form of a hilarious email that arrived in my inbox from a long time customer. The story made me laugh so hard i actually keep a copy of it hanging up front in my shop so customers waiting to be checked out have entertainment while they wait. long story short - real short, their daughter came home from school telling them one of the other kids said a bad word… so my customers said to their daughter, you know what happens if you say a bad word eh? - they grabbed a bar of bg soap, “last call” and gave it a lick - problem was, the bar tasted good! so good in fact they all had a lick! so they thought perhaps i should come out with a bar named the punisher. lol …. ive kept the idea in the back of my mind until i was able to create the bar that fit the bill. so i bring to you soon - the punisher - pumice, salt, 2 different kinds of seeds, eucalyptus, lavender and mint. seriously, who likes to eat eucalyptus anything? ack. and with all that gritty stuff and salt in there, i couldnt think of a name to better suit the bar. ive got a bar at my kitchen sink right now, and i promise you, the last place id want it is in my mouth! it is however, an awesome hand soap!
also to the line this year will be a beer soap. ive noticed a theme with the bars i am creating this year - i keep turning to milk. i made milk soaps years ago but wanted to stay away from all of the hype with milk soaps. i didnt want to be known as ” the milk soap girl”. lol… now that ive established the line as a great line of soaps without milk, im ready to incorporate some milk soaps. So the beer soap, will be a milk stout beer soap. I havent finished formulating it, however. im on the fence about how i will scent it. if at all. i went with my friend to a really cool local brewery to pick out some awesome beer for the soap! here are a few photos from that
the final bar to the line will be a coconut milk and bamboo bar named “edge”. unfortunately, the bar isnt close to being in production yet so you can expect its launch in late summer. with everything else going on … it will be a while before i can get to it. but i definitely plan to bring it to the line in the future.
now that the good news is out - i suppose i should follow up with the not so good news. bringing new bars to the line means some older bars need retired. those bars are : the salt bar, smudge, ( gravity is already gone), and immix. these bars are on their way out. so dont be shocked when they are gone from the website, trust their replacements will be just as loved, if not more so.
i think thats about it for tonight. Ill be back with some photos of the new bars coming out soon…
